Our college JBMCTE organised a one day online webinar on Career Guidance with career development centre, New Initiative of Department of National Employment Service (Kerala) on 6th November 2020.

KASE, the State Skill Development Mission of Government of Kerala in association with National Employment Service Department, Government of Kerala has set up Career Development Centre/Mini Employability Centre (CDC/MEC) which acts as a destination where individuals can obtain authentic solutions for all kinds of career issues faced by them. The Centre adapts the latest technologies and appropriate tools in Career Management to address the issues of individuals. The ultimate goal of these Centres are to link the students with meaningful work, giving them support to shape and manage their careers by building key ingredients necessary for their transformation to become a complete professionals.Career Development Centre (CDC) is a new initiative of Employment Department, envisaged as a destination where individuals can obtain authentic solutions for all kind of career issues faced by them. Kerala is the first state in India which constituted such a Centre, under the Government. It provides career guidance services as per the concept of International Labour Organization (ILO), completely free of cost. The centre has adopted latest technologies and appropriate tools in career management to address the career problems of individuals.

The Career Development Centres across Kerala offers various services like assessment and counselling, well equipped library with internet facility, various outreach programmes in educational institutions, career lectures/ workshops, exposure visits, soft skill training etc. In addition to this, CDCs constitutes various self-help groups. CDCs conduct various job drives/ techno drives by coordinating with local industries. CDCs have a database of local jobs available and professionals or trained candidates available in the locality. The database of all VTPs providing requisite skills for various employment opportunities is also maintained in the CDCs. The ultimate goal of these Centres are to link the students with meaningful work, giving them support to shape and manage their careers by building key ingredients necessary for their transformation to become a complete professionals. The Career Development Centres across Kerala is intended to act as a pathway to a welfare society.
