His research interests are in the areas of general school education, classroom psychology, policy studies in education, trends in evaluation, teacher education and professional development, and MOOCs.Nai Talim envisioned by Gandhiji, a holistic approach for nurturing mind, body and soul by making creative craft, art & community participation activities as centre of learning is based on the thought that education should be centred around productive work/vocation, chosen while keeping child and his/her local environment in mind. It is grounded on 3H’s –Head, Heart and Hand with mother tongue as medium of instruction and teachers to be placed in the role of facilitator. Experiential learning, another feature of this approach provides opportunities to acquire skills and knowledge through hands-on activities, reflect on teaching experiences and transform knowledge into functional experience in day to day life. It was initially envisioned for rural India, but today there is a strong need to develop Nai Talim for urban and semi-urban people. The purpose of this workshop is to institutionalise Vocational Education Nai Talim Experiential Learning (VENTEL) and develop knowledge, skills, attitudes, attributes and values necessary to shape a sustainable future.
